Antonio is a Quantitative Economist at Fera, within the Land Use and Sustainability team, where his main interest is the economic analysis and modelling to detect emerging risks within the agri-environment-food supply chain. He works on a wide range of topics, including an Early Warning System for food safety and plant health, and the economic analysis of food recalls and foodborne disease outbreaks, by using macro and micro modelling, econometrics and spatial econometrics, machine learning models.

Antonio research interests focus on big data and machine learning, economic modelling, agricultural and environmental economics, climate change adaptation and mitigation, local economic development, GIS and spatial statistics, spatial econometrics, precision agriculture.

Prior to joining Fera, Antonio worked at the University College Dublin, the University of Padua, and at the Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations (FAO), where he supported national governments in Africa and in the Caribbean to improve national capacities to use analytical techniques to assess risks, vulnerabilities and impacts of climate variability including climate extremes and change in agriculture. He holds a Ph.D. in Agri-Food Economics and Statistics at the University of Bologna and a Master of Science in Local Economic Development at the London School of Economics.
