Ed Haynes

Edward has previously studied the genomics and epidemiology of a bacterial disease of honey bees, using genomic data to develop a typing scheme for the causative pathogen that is now in routine use in the National Bee Unit.

Edward's other capabilities are in genomic epidemiology of foodborne pathogens of humans, and he has an interest in microbial community analyses, for example in relation to untargeted pathogen detection.

More broadly within the sequencing team there is considerable expertise in plant pathology, including untargeted detection of novel viruses and genomics of bacterial and fungal pathogens of plants. We also have experience with analysis of microbial populations from a range of environments, including foodstuffs, soils, faeces and water.
