The innovative translational science company Fera Science demonstrates to customers and partners its commitment to responsible environmental management.

Fera Science, a company specialising in innovative translational science research, today announced that it has been certified ISO 14001 compliant by BSI. This accredited third-party certification confirms that Fera Science has voluntarily implemented an environmental management system that benefits its customers and partners. The international environmental management standard is awarded to companies that document and regularly review their systems and services with the aim of reducing waste and pollution. As part of the ISO 14001 certification process, Fera has implemented an Environmental Management System (EMS) which is being used to drive continual environmental improvements throughout the entire organisation.

BSI is the business standards company that helps organisations all over the embed excellence into the way people and products work. BSI is appointed by the UK Government as the National Standards Body and represents UK interests at the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the European Standards Organizations (CEN, CENELEC and ETSI). Formed in 1901, BSI was the world’s first National Standards Body.

“This is an important step forward for Fera, where we have worked diligently to develop an environmental management system that reflects and supports the quality of our scientific services. Our processes are now compliant with the most recent environmental management standard and all its obligations for the design, development, delivery and servicing of scientific research testing services,” explains Leah Cadwallader, Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager at Fera Science. “As Fera continues to develop new innovative methodologies and technologies in the agri-food space, our customers can be confident that we do so while adhering to ISO 14001 and all industry standards to measure and manage our environmental impact. It has involved educating our staff and developing practices that promote sustainable development across all areas of the business and will ensure that Fera is fit for the future.”
