Fera Science Limited can analyse food or feed samples to measure levels of ochratoxin A. The methods used are fully compliant with EU contaminants legislation to allow you to assess your compliance with regulatory limits in place.

The method used is fully accredited to ISO17025 for food and feed samples and uses an immunoaffinity column clean-up with HPLC-fluorescence detection. Matrix optimised extraction protocols coupled with highly specific clean-up protocols allow the analysis to respond optimally for challenging matrices so we can be sure the results produced are fit for purpose, accurate and precise.

Want to be sure that your supplier’s storage conditions are fit for purpose therefore reducing your susceptibility to product recalls and that you comply with EU regulations*.

Fera Science Limited can analyse food or feed samples to measure levels of ochratoxin A.

Ochratoxin A is a food and feed contaminating mycotoxin often produced by Aspergillus ochraceus or Penicillium verrucosum, Human exposure can occur through consumption of contaminated food products.

Ochratoxin A is a nephrotoxin which can cause acute and chronic effects in the kidneys of animals although the sensitivity of different species varies. However, ochratoxin A is genotoxic and teratogenic and also a potential carcinogen, hence the presence of ochratoxin A in food and feed is undesirable.

*Regulatory limits for ochratoxin A are laid down in multiple EU regulations/recommendations and their amendments. These are: Regulation (EC) No 1881/2006 setting maximum levels for certain contaminants in foodstuffs, and Commission Recommendation 2006/576/EC on the presence of deoxynivalenol, zearalenone, ochratoxin A, T-2 and HT-2 and fumonisins in products intended for animal feeding.
