E-Flows Mesocosm

E-Flows Mesocosm

A unique Platform for Higher Tier Risk Assessment of Novel Plant Protection Products. The new E-Flows mesocosm has been in development for two years and will allow the examination of simulations of natural aquatic environments under controlled conditions. This form of higher tier testing will enable the agri-chemical industry, particularly those developing plant protection products such as pesticides, to demonstrate whether their products pose any risk to aquatic environments.

In Silico Predictive Toxicology

Predictive Toxicology

Advanced computational (in silico) modelling means that we can now rapidly derive reliable (eco)toxicological assessments without the need for testing on animals. Regulations today allow scientifically valid QSAR models to be used to derive information on the intrinsic properties of chemical substances. That means they can be used to estimate the data required to comply with regulatory schemes for a range of applications, such as agrochemicals, cosmetics, human and animal medicines, food additives and industrial chemicals.

Aquatic Ecotoxicology

Fera offers a full package of studies to GLP on aquatic non-target organisms, on microorganisms and ready biodegradability tests.  All studies are planned and performed by an experienced team of scientists and technical personnel, with the analytical dose verification and fate of the active ingredient(s) is performed as close as possible in parallel to the biological part of the study.

Fera offers a wide range of standardised Phase I laboratory studies, aged residue tests as well as more complex higher tier studies under extended laboratory, glasshouse, semi-field and field conditions with standard or special designs. All studies are planned and performed by an experienced team of scientists and technical personnel.

Environmental fate studies are key to providing the data required by chemical companies to complete thorough environmental risk assessments (ERA). They provide information on the fate and behaviour of chemical products in the environment, and contribute to the determination of the risk posed to human and environmental health.
