  1. Scab testing: powdery (Spongospora) & common (Streptomyces)
    Powdery and Common scab both are potato blemish diseases that cause unsightly scab like blemishes on the tubers which in turn result in the tubers being rejected or downgraded.
  2. Gangrene Latent Test
    A latent test for gangrene, a slow growing fungal disease of stored potatoes, caused by Boeremia foveata.
  3. Soft rotting bacteria (Total count and Identification of Pectobacterium / Dickeya species)
    Blackleg is caused by a number of pectolytic bacteria, including Pectobacterium and Dickeya species, that have the ability to breakdown plant cell walls. It is a disease which affects all sectors of the UK potato industry.
  4. Potato brown rot & ring rot (Official EU Protocol) - Ralstonia solanacearum & Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. sepedonicus
    This test is to detect the presence of Ring Rot and Brown Rot in potato tubers.
  5. Stem Nematode Analysis
    The bulb and stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci) is a particularly destructive plant pathogenic nematode, affecting over 450 plant species.
  6. Brassica virus screening (3 virus screen)
    Tests to identify 3 viruses found to mostly affect plants in the cabbage (Brassicaceae) family, which includes Turnips and Cauliflower.
  7. Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV) - Rhizomania
    Rhizomania is caused by infection of the plants by Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV).
  8. Barley yellow dwarf virus and Soil borne cereal mosaic virus

    This testing for cereal crops covers both Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) and Soil-borne cereal mosaic virus.

  9. Pospiviroid screen
    A PCR screen to identify the presence of a number of popsiviroids in symptomatic plants/leaves including Potato spindle tuber viroid, Tomato chlorotic dwarf viroid, and Columnea latent viroid.
  10. Strawberry red core (Phytophthora fragariae) in plants (Non-Symptomatic)
    This test for Strawberry Red Core (Phytophthora fragariae) on non-symptomatic plants allows for the detection of low levels of the disease in propogation material.
  11. General free-living plant-parasitic nematodes from soil: Standard analysis

    A test for free-living plant-parasitic nematodes from soil including extraction, counts and identification to genus/species (including root-lesion nematodes) of any free living nematodes found within your sample. We also supply information on any pathogenic nematodes found (Plese note: virus vectors require specialist extraction methods).

  12. General free-living plant-parasitic nematodes from soil: Basic analysis
    Our expert nematologists will analyse your soil samples for free-living nematodes which includes the extraction, count and identification to group (including root-lesion nematodes, but with the exception of virus vectors which require specialist extraction methods). This can give you the initial analysis required to point your prevention strategies in the correct direction.
