  1. Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV) - Rhizomania
Rhizomania is caused by infection of the plants by Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV).
  2. Diagnose My Crop Problem
We understand that every case is different and often you may not know the likely cause of the problem. For these cases we offer an examination of your sample by our crop health experts to assess the most probable cause.
  3. Combined Test: Powdery scab (Spongospora subterranea) and Potato mop top virus (PMTV)

Powdery scab (Spongospora subterranea) is a fungal blemish disease of potatoes. A cosmetic defect with small lesions occurring in the early stages of the disease, progressing to raised pustules containing a powdery mass.

  4. Standard growing on test for virus in Potato (PVY)
This growing on test takes six to eight weeks where tubers are grown on in the glasshouse and subsequently tested for various PVY strains and any specific viruses as requested using ELISA.
  5. Additional pospiviroid seed testing (1500 seeds)

Pospiviroid positives detected by real time RT-PCR (TaqMan) are tested by RT-PCR and sequencing to try to identify and confirm the pospiviroid - this is a supplementary test to our standard Pospiviroid seed testing package.

  6. Rapid direct tuber test for virus in Potato (PVY + 1 Virus)
This rapid direct tuber test includes Potato virus Y (PVY) as standard.

Further viruses are available for an additional fee. These are Potato leaf roll virus (PLRV) and potato viruses PVA, PVV and PVX.

  7. Pospiviroid seed testing package (1500 seeds)

Pospiviroid positives detected by real time RT-PCR (TaqMan) are tested by RT-PCR and sequencing to try to identify and confirm the pospiviroid.

  8. Pepino mosaic virus in seed by ELISA
Pepino mosaic virus (PepMV) affected tomatoes show distorted leaf development, with bubbling of the leaf surface and chlorosis.
  9. Rapid direct tuber test for virus in Potato (PVY + 4 Viruses)
This rapid direct tuber test includes Potato virus Y (PVY) as standard.

Further viruses are available for an additional fee. These are Potato leaf roll virus (PLRV) and potato viruses PVA, PVV and PVX.

  10. Identification and confirmation of pospiviroid seed positive

Pospiviroid positives detected by real time RT-PCR (TaqMan) are tested by RT-PCR and sequencing to try to identify and confirm the pospiviroid.

  11. Pospiviroid screen
A PCR screen to identify the presence of a number of popsiviroids in symptomatic plants/leaves including Potato spindle tuber viroid, Tomato chlorotic dwarf viroid, and Columnea latent viroid.
  12. Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV, Rhizomania in soil)

Test for the presence of Rhizomania caused by Beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV) within soil. BNYVV can cause severe damage if the infection spreads into the whole plant.
